The past year has been such a challenge for all non-profit agencies in Illinois. Because of the Illinois budget impasse, there were a number of agencies that had to reduce the level of services or close their doors for good. The times were challenging but SFC was able to weather the storm and today is as strong as we’ve ever been.
There were storms of a different kind that we experienced. Two of our longtime supporters and board members, Richard (Dick) Romani and Joe Ender passed away.
Dick Romani was a long-time Berwyn resident and business owner for over 40 years. He served as the President, Vice President, and Treasurer of the Board of Directors in the many years that he was a board member. His continued support over the years included generous donations from his Romani’s Bella Fiori flower shop and countless hours of planning and meetings. His generosity and commitment to the community were evident in everything he did.
Joe Ender of Corcoran Ender & Associates was a life-long resident of Cicero. As a CPA Joe always brought his expertise to meetings and contributed that expertise to agency growth and location moves. Joe was a giver who made it his business to not only contribute his time and money but made the extra effort to attend and participate in many agency functions in the community SFC was only of many non-profits that Joe supported. Joe also served as President, Vice President, and Treasurer during the time he served on our board.
Both of these men will be missed. They both are irreplaceable in so many ways. But I’m confident, that he run the good race and fought the good fight they are both happily resting!
Thank you Joe! Thank you Dick!
