In June of 1972 four seniors from the Berwyn-Cicero community joined together to create the Berwyn-Cicero Council on Aging. The organization was founded on the mission that older adults living in the the community should have a place to go to get information, find fellowship and remain independent in the community. Though the organization has undergone many changes over the years our mission remains the same, to preserve the dignity and independence of older adults and those living with disabilities in the Berwyn, Cicero and Proviso Townships.
Each year we assist over 12,000 seniors in gathering valuable information regarding healthcare and vital benefits, establishing essential in-home services, feeling protected from abuse, neglect and exploitation, supported in their caregiving, or safely discharged from one of the four hospitals we serve. We have been honored to be a part of this community for 45 years and cannot wait to see what the future holds.
